Education is not just about exam results and it is more than reading, writing and arithmetic. It is about the dialogue between curiosity and knowledge; bringing the very best out of every child. We give our pupils the confidence to ask questions and the desire to know not just ‘what’, but ‘how’ and ‘why’.
In Years 1 and 2 pupils build on the knowledge and skills acquired in Pre-Reception and Reception, developing greater independence both personally and academically. Teachers provide rich and stimulating lessons with exciting opportunities for practical problem solving and investigation. Pupils continue to benefit from specialist teaching in PE, Music and French and begin to use the ICT suite. Swimming lessons take place weekly from Year 1.

Developing English and Maths:
Pupils are introduced to a wide range of genres and literature and teachers share their enjoyment in the magic of reading. Pupils are taught spelling and grammar rules and consolidate their phonic knowledge.
Pupils develop excellent mental maths skills and are taught how to use and apply their mathematical skills to everyday problem solving. They are encouraged to use a range of methods and strategies, and to explain them.
Pupils leave Year 2 well equipped and prepared for the challenges of the Junior Department.
Year 3 – 6 Curriculum
Pupils in Years 3 – 6 enjoy a varied and exciting curriculum with lessons taught by their form tutor and subject specialists. Class sizes are small which enables children to be supported and challenged in a nurturing environment.
