Mrs L Spackman

Early Years Teacher

On completing my teacher training at the Institute of Education, University of London, I worked in Barcelona for five years in a trilingual Primary school, heading up the English curriculum and teaching the Early Years children. It was fascinating to see the learning of English from a second, or sometimes third, language perspective and it has greatly influenced my understanding of children as young learners and the importance of language acquisition. Following returning from Spain, I taught in Reception for four years in a Prep School in North West London. I then became the Head of Modern Foreign Languages for Nursery to Year 8. I joined St Joseph’s College in September 2019, teaching in the Early Years Centre. I am really enjoying working with little ones again and I love coming into school every day. St Joseph’s College is a special and caring family community and it is lovely to be a part of the Early Years magic, buzz and fun. I live in Lightwater with my husband and daughter. We enjoy going on bike rides and walks, exploring and discovering the great outdoors. At the weekend, you will often find us spending time with family and friends, revelling in art activities, cooking and baking delicious treats.
