Virtual Drama Showcase

23.07.2020

Welcome to our Virtual Drama Showcase. This showcase produced in lockdown, is the first showcase of its kind we have created; whilst it has been curated during a time of uncertainty, it reflects how the arts can be a powerful means to process, address and cope with challenges and social upheaval.

From our Prep pupils having fun in their live online speech and drama lessons – rising above the challenge of learning online to thrive and progress; to our Year 7 and 8 pupils who have used it as an opportunity to explore other elements of performance – such as acting for screen – this showcase is an opportunity to share the wonderful work they have done in isolation.

It is also an opportunity to celebrate our outgoing Year 13s, who have contributed so much to the creative and performing arts at St Joseph’s during their time with us. These students have used this time to develop new skills, such as sound design, video editing, play-writing and film-making, to produce personal and reflective pieces about what it means to be part of the class of 2020, who did not get to experience the rites of passage that we all experienced when we completed our final days in school.

And finally, it is a chance to showcase the work completed by our A Level Drama students before we went into lockdown – sharing the brilliant visually arresting and highly original devised piece of theatre the group created.

If you enjoy or are interested in the A Level work and how the students created it – please scroll down after the showcase to see the videos of the students discussing the work and the ideas behind it; it is a wonderful insight into their creative process.
