Year 5 had an incredible time on their residential trip to Ufton Court, packed with adventure, teamwork and fun memories.
Day one was full of excitement, beginning with mindful activities and team games in the sunshine. Pupils also challenged themselves on the climbing wall, enjoyed plenty of delicious food, and ended the evening around the campfire roasting marshmallows together.
One pupil, Inesh, summed up the experience perfectly in his letter:
Dear Ufton Court,
Ufton was my favourite trip yet. My favourite part was to attempt and surprisingly succeed the Challenge Wall. I struggled with Level 7 and 8, but with a bit more support from my friends, I managed to do it; without any help, just cheering. I’ve never been with more than 1 person while I slept, so it was a little bit challenging. Fortunately, I have a really deep sleep, so I got on with it in the end.
My second favourite part was the frisbee games. I enjoyed it a lot and even learnt some new techniques. The teamwork activities like the building with water and the stepping-stone crates were much harder. Firstly, in the water building, you had to make a catapult. It was hard, but we got there in the end. I was also surprised that I hit a direct shot on the cans!
On the teamwork activities, like the crates, the lava sharks got more than 10 crates. For the medium stick, it was really hard to balance the bamboo on our fingers. Finally, there were the activities like the starting blocks, the caterpillar walk and more. Most of them required a lot of teamwork, especially on the balancing blocks! You had to get a small metal part attached to strings that people hold and put it in a slit in a block and stack them. It was really hard, but we got 4 bricks on top of each other!
Ufton Court was amazing and I would really like to go again.
From Inesh
Staff were incredibly proud of the pupils’ enthusiasm, teamwork and resilience throughout the trip – what a fantastic experience!
