Winter Music Concert

On Thursday 12 November, our Music Department performed their second socially distanced Virtual Music Concert this autumn term. From Year 4 to Year 13, pupils sung and performed a wide variety of musical pieces, ranging from the ‘Wallace and Gromit’ theme tune, and an a capella adaptation of Justin Bieber’s ‘Love Yourself’ to the more classical compositions by Domenico Cimarosa and Carl Maria von Weber.

Every piece performed in this Concert was started this year and rehearsed under difficult circumstances; all socially distanced and often wearing masks even when singing. Nonetheless, the huge number of talented music pupils shone through whether a soloist preparing for an instrumental exam or curriculum assessment or a group performance from one of our many ensembles.

Mr Colpus praised the Music Department for coordinating two music concerts in two weeks, showcasing the depth and range of music here at St Joseph’s. The Headmaster also thanked the pupils and Music staff for their hard work and contribution to this spectacular event.
