We have an inspiring team of dedicated staff at St Joseph’s who recognise that each child is an individual, and support them to reach their potential through a diverse range of learning experiences. Due to low staff turnover and our staff teaching throughout the College, pupils can rely on being taught by familiar faces as they progress through the years.

Mr Andrew Colpus
HEADMASTER
I have been Headmaster of St Joseph’s College since September 2012.
I attended Caterham School before going to Southampton University to study Economics & Statistics. After university I joined BAA plc on their graduate trainee scheme. Much of the management and financial training that I received there has proved to be invaluable as a Head. On completion of the training scheme I decided to change career, becoming a Maths teacher, firstly in South London before moving to Berkshire. I still love teaching Maths and receive enormous satisfaction from explaining a mathematical concept to a group of pupils so that they understand and master it. I am glad that part of my working week is still in the classroom.
I am married to Sarah, and have two grown-up children. I enjoy cooking and creating a special family meal each weekend. I have a passion for travelling and have been fortunate to visit some wonderful places around the world. When visiting another culture, as well as tasting the local cuisine, I try and take the opportunity to attend a couple of cookery classes. I love the experience of exploring a new place and discovering more about its people and culture.
I serve on the Society of Heads’ Main committee, chair the Education Committee, am an ISI Inspector, a Founding Member of the Chartered College of Teaching, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
