Spirituality & Service

At St Joseph’s, spirituality and service are deeply intertwined, reflecting our commitment to both personal growth and community wellbeing. Central to this is the emphasis on charity, where students and staff come together to support those in need. Our College organises regular fundraising events including food collections, music concerts and house activities, encouraging everyone to participate actively in serving others. This focus on charity helps cultivate a culture of empathy and compassion, instilling a sense of responsibility to address social inequalities and promote the common good.

Prayer life is another pillar of spiritual life within the College. Daily prayers, Celebrations of the Word, and opportunities for spiritual reflection are integrated into our academic and social routines. These practices help students connect to a higher purpose, fostering a sense of peace, guidance, and support. Regular liturgies offer a space for individuals to come together, not only to worship but also to find strength in community. Annual retreats, which take place off-site, are held to deepen understanding and encourage personal spiritual journeys.

The College offers a variety of co-curricular activities that foster faith and service. The CAFOD Young Leader Programme for Year 12 students empowers them to develop fundraising initiatives supporting global justice. In the Prep School, the CAFOD Club encourages younger students to engage in charitable efforts. For Years 3-6, the Rosary Group offers a space for prayer and reflection, deepening students’ spiritual lives. In the Senior School, the Kingdom Come faith-sharing group provides a platform for students to discuss and grow in their faith, building a strong community of support and shared purpose in living out their beliefs. This holistic approach to spirituality and service ensures that students not only grow academically, but also morally and spiritually.
