Stay and Play Event
Join us at our Stay & Play taster sessions. An opportunity for children and their parent or guardian to engage with the Pre-Reception teachers and children. Suitable for ages 2-4 years.

Opening hours
We offer all-year-round care over 50 weeks of the year (closed at Christmas). Breakfast Club starts at 7.45am and Extended Day (afterschool care) ends at 6pm daily.
Attendance
We have very flexible attendance arrangements. Government-funded days (up to 15 hours funding) are Tuesdays and Thursdays (up to 7.5 hours per day). Morning sessions from 08.20-13.00 including a hot lunch are possible. Additional days are available as required, up to full-time attendance, five days per week.
Meals and snacks
We offer healthy lunch options and morning and afternoon snacks. Lunch is prepared freshly on-site by our caterers Thomas Franks. For those with dietary requirements for ethical, religious or health reasons we offer a variety of meat-free options daily, including child friendly pasta and baked potatoes. Allergies can be accommodated if notified in advance. A sample menu can be viewed below:

We offer up to 15 hours Government Early Years funding until the term in which your child turns 5. Funding is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays, term-time only.
If your child’s attendance pattern is for more than the two funded days, there is a non-refundable £100 registration fee and a charge for lunch and snacks on additional days.

Attendance on additional days is charged at our usual termly rate (see our Fees page for further information).
There is a fee discount of 15% for your third child at St Joseph’s College.

Trips and co-curricular activities
The Acorn Centre children participate in a number of local trips and Co-Curricular activities during their year in Pre-Reception including: Beale Park, Norden Farm Centre for the Arts, University of Reading lake walk, Little Street Role Play and Farms2Ewe.
Extended Day (wraparound care before
and after school)
Children can arrive for supervised Breakfast Club from 7.45am for an additional cost of £2.50 per day. After school, we provide a variety of structured activities as well as free play from 3.20pm for an additional cost of £10.00 including tea per day (collection 5.15pm) or £14.90 (collection 6pm).
