St Joseph’s College hosted another spectacular House Performance Day this year, kicking off with Mr Jones welcoming everyone and introducing our guest judge, Mrs Kesel, to our new guide dog puppy, Mandy – named in her honour following her retirement this summer after an incredible 43 years at St Joe’s.
The performances began with Jennings, who wowed the audience with their rendition of The Greatest Showman – or, as they cleverly called it, The Great House. The act was a whirlwind of talent, featuring backflips, ballet, dance, circus skills, comedy, and brilliant singing. It was clear that every member of Jennings brought their A-game, showcasing an impressive variety of skills.
Next up was Hummel, who made a show-stopping entrance straight out of Strictly Come Dancing. Performing to Dancing Queen, the house impressed with jaw-dropping cartwheels, acrobatics, and stunningly coordinated routines. Fabulous costumes and enthusiasm all round, and even the judges got to join in with scoring paddles – was it a 10 or a six-seven?
Richardson followed with a magical theme inspired by Harry Potter. Their performance included spellbinding acting, meticulously choreographed dance sequences, amazing magic tricks, and energetic singing and dancing. The house truly captured the audience’s imagination and brought a touch of magic to the stage.
Closing the event was Dixon with The Wizard of Oz. Highlights included a solo dance from Kevin (site team), a vocal performance of New York with some of our Sixth Formers contributing rap verses, and a confetti cannon that left the audience cheering.
After all the acts, the judges’ votes were tallied. With only 10 points separating first and fourth place, the competition was incredibly close. In the end, it was Richardson who triumphed, taking the top spot this year.
It was an amazing afternoon, showcasing the creativity, skill, and enthusiasm of our students. House Performance Day remains a brilliant way to end the autumn term, with everyone having fun and giving their best.
