Today marks an important milestone at St Joseph’s College, as we said goodbye (for now) to our Year 13 students at the start of their study leave.
The celebrations began last night with our final St Joseph’s Mass for the year. Students and their families gathered to mark the end of this chapter with a moment of reflection and celebration. It was a fitting way to recognise the journey they’ve taken — from their early days in school to this important point of transition as they prepare for life beyond the College.
This morning, the Sixth Form Centre was filled with conversation, laughter, and a few emotional goodbyes. Staff dropped in throughout the morning to wish students well, as shirts were signed, awards handed out and memories shared.
As part of the morning, students gave speeches to their peers and tutors — and we even enjoyed a video asking each student, “Where will you be in 10 years’ time?” From plans to own banks, own five dogs, or sail off on a yacht, to more grounded ambitions in medicine, business and the arts, it was a great reminder of the individuality and spirit of this year group.
A special mention goes to Charlene, who is leaving Year 13 having started her journey with us in Pre-Reception at the age of three. She’s one of several students who have been part of the College community for well over a decade, contributing to its character and life in countless ways.
Year 13 have been a fantastic year group — positive, hardworking, and full of character. As they begin study leave and look ahead to exams, university offers, and future plans, we wish them all the very best.
We’ll miss them — but we know they’ll go on to do great things…and we can’t wait to find out who has achieved what in 10 years time!
