Enrichment Week 2025

03.07.2025

What an incredible week it has been at St Joseph’s College! Enrichment Week 2025 has been a truly memorable experience for all our students, packed full of adventure, creativity, teamwork and learning beyond the classroom.

The week began with a powerful and reflective moment as the entire College took part in a pilgrimage around Reading – a shared journey in faith and community. Spirits remained high as we returned to the top field for the first ever House Gun Run, which saw students test their endurance and teamwork in an exciting new challenge.

Throughout the week, students have enjoyed an extraordinary range of day trips. From the regal history of Windsor Castle and the rural charm of Bucklebury Farm, to the scenic walks at Wittenham Clumps, the hands-on learning at Hampton Court and Dinton Pastures, the thrills of Thorpe Park, the academic inspiration of the University of Southampton, and cultural adventures in London – every excursion brought new insights and unforgettable memories.

Residential trips have been equally enriching. Year 4 students embraced outdoor learning at the Sustainability Centre, Year 9s showed great resilience completing their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh and Year 12s tackled the challenge of their Gold DofE expedition with determination and spirit.

Back at school, students in Years 3 to 8 rotated through an exciting programme of STEM, Arts, Sport, and HaLE activities. These included everything from sculpting and rap poetry to robotics and water polo – a true showcase of creativity, skill and curiosity.

Our youngest learners were not left out either. Infants and Pre-Reception were delighted by a visit from Farms2Ewe, who brought a wonderful array of farmyard animals to the Broadoak Oak tree, creating magical moments of discovery and joy.

The week concluded with our much-anticipated House Day. Students from Year 3 to 12 competed in a range of House challenges, including It’s a Knockout – a riot of bubbles, slip and slides and inflatable fun! Lawn Games, Rounders, and The Big House Quiz tested minds and teamwork alike.

Our closing ceremony on the Head’s Lawn was a fitting end to the week. We proudly awarded Jennings House Sports Boy and House Sports Girl of the Year, before revealing the final House results.

We are thrilled to announce that Dixon House were victorious, winning both The House Challenge Cup and the House Cup! Huge congratulations to Mr Jenkins and all of Dixon House for a truly outstanding House year.

Dixon winners

A heartfelt thank you goes to our amazing Heads of House – Mrs Albrow, Mr Newsam, Mr Jenkins and Mr Ozanne – for their dedication, leadership and enthusiasm throughout the year. Additionally, a huge thank you to the work of our Directors, Mr Orgill, Mrs Kesel and Mrs Marandola for their planning of activities across this week.

Finally, we must commend all of our students for embracing the week’s challenges with such positivity, resilience and maturity – especially in the face of the summer heat! Enrichment Week has been a celebration of everything that makes St Joseph’s College special, and we are immensely proud of all that our students have achieved.

Wishing you all a restful and joyful summer.
