Last Thursday and Friday, eight teams of students from Years 5 to 10 proudly represented the College at the F1 in Schools London West Regional Finals, competing against more than 70 teams from across the region. The event marked the culmination of five months of dedication, creativity and technical skill, during which students designed and engineered their own F1 model cars, secured sponsorship, and communicated their work through professional portfolios, pit displays and verbal presentations.
Throughout the competition, our students demonstrated exceptional teamwork, resilience and confidence. Every team represented the College with professionalism and enthusiasm, gaining valuable experience in collaboration, problem-solving and presenting their ideas to industry judges.
Their hard work was reflected in an impressive set of results. Seven teams were nominated for awards, placing them in the top three of their categories. Nominations included Pit Display and Future Vision for Storm Slayers (Year 5), Team Identity for Fire Tigers (Year 5), Judges’ Choice for Ember Engines (Year 6), and Sponsorship and Marketing for Turbo Demons (Year 6).
Three teams went on to win their categories:
Fire Tigers – Team Identity
Ember Engines – Judges’ Choice
Storm Slayers – Future Vision
These achievements are particularly noteworthy given the highly competitive field.
Mr Ozanne and Dr Dinnin are immensely proud of all the students involved. Sincere thanks also go to Mr Swainston-Harrison for supporting the senior teams, Mrs Newsam for her assistance at the regionals, and to our parents for their continued encouragement and support.
The teams are already enthusiastically refining their designs and ideas as they look ahead to next year’s competition.
