St Joseph’s College Reading has been ranked in the top 5% of schools nationally in the latest Department for Education 16–18 Progress Measures. The co-educational independent school is placed 50th out of more than 4,500 schools and colleges in England, and 33rd among independent schools.
St Joseph’s was the only school locally to achieve the top rating of “well above average” for this “value-added” score.
Last summer Sixth Form students celebrated excellent A Level results, with 33% of exam grades being awarded at either A* or A and 71% at A*-B. Ninety-five percent of them secured their first-choice university.
Commenting on the results, Laura Stotesbury, Head at St Joseph’s said: “This achievement reflects the strength and character of our Sixth Form. Our A Level provision is genuinely child centred, enabling every student to be known, supported and challenged as an individual. Students at St Joseph’s are encouraged to define what success means to them, and our staff work hard to support them in achieving their own unique goals. As a result, our students exceed their predictions by an average of half a grade in each qualification.
I am incredibly proud of our young people and deeply grateful to the staff whose expertise and commitment make this possible. These results affirm what we see every day: a Sixth Form where students flourish and achieve at the highest level.”
