Over the Easter holidays, a group of our Year 8 and 9 students enjoyed an exciting and enriching trip to France, based in the Calais region around 45 minutes from the port. From the moment they arrived on Sunday, the group threw themselves into a packed itinerary full of cultural experiences, language practice and plenty of fun.
Students took part in a wide range of activities, including bread making, a visit to the stunning Boulogne Cathedral, exploring the fascinating sea life at Nausicaa Aquarium and a memorable trip to a goat farm where they had the chance to pet the animals and sample local produce.
Charlie described the trip as “fun, insightful and educational,” and particularly enjoyed an afternoon in Le Touquet. Students explored the town through a scavenger hunt, learning about its monuments and architecture, and even practised their French by speaking with locals. Of course, no visit would be complete without sampling authentic crêpes and picking up French sweets and chocolate – “Miam-Miam!”
Isabella in Year 8 also shared her highlights, explaining how the trip helped students learn more about French culture, practise speaking the language and strengthen friendships. She enjoyed activities such as aeroball, visiting markets, going to the beach, seeing sea life in the aquarium and even trying snails during a French themed dinner – something she was surprised to enjoy!
It was a wonderful trip, filled with unforgettable memories and valuable learning experiences.
