Maximilian heads to Düsseldorf celebrations

04.08.2022

Maximilian, Year 8, is Deputy Chair of Reading Youth Council and he has recently been in Düsseldorf, by special invitation from the Mayor of Düsseldorf, to join in the celebrations for the 75th anniversary of the twinning between Reading and Düsseldorf.

A reception took place in the town hall and there were two very special guests who had been “eyewitnesses” to the birth of the town partnership: Gretel Rieber-Wicke and Erika Euteneuer, who shared their experiences of the historic moment when the twinning took place.

Maximilian made a speech, partly in German, and also attended the citizen dinner with the mayor of Reading.

Maximilian was featured on advertising billboards across the streets of Dusseldorf, sporting his St Joseph’s College uniform, helping to raise the College’s profile!
