St Joseph’s College is excited to celebrate the achievements of eight talented pupils who have been selected to represent England at the Gothia World Youth Cup in Gothenburg next July – the world’s largest youth football tournament.
A huge congratulations to Florence (Year 8), who has been chosen for the Prep School Lionesses U13 Girls’ Football Squad. Flo was the only girl nominated by the College’s PE staff and impressed selectors at national trials held at Wellington College before half term.
It has been an exciting footballing journey for Flo over recent months. After travelling with her family to Switzerland in the summer to cheer on the senior Lionesses in the UEFA Women’s Euro Final, she has stepped up to 11-a-side football with her local club and earned a place training with Reading FC’s Female Pathway Development Hub. Flo is now looking forward to representing the College in upcoming fixtures as she continues to develop her game.
We are equally proud to celebrate the success of seven boys who have also earned their place on the England squads heading to Gothenburg next year. Representing Year 7 are Ethan, Edward, Oskar, Ralf and Viren, with Isaac and Ashray selected from Year 8. Their hard work, commitment and passion for football have shone through, and this opportunity is a wonderful recognition of their efforts.
Everyone at St Joseph’s College is incredibly proud of all eight pupils. We look forward to cheering them on as they prepare for this exciting international challenge in 2026.
